Ingredients

  • 500 ml (2 cups) of macaronis pastas
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of butter
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of olive oil
  • 1 package of 250 g (3 cups) of Les Cultures de chez nous sliced leeks
  • 1 chopped garlic cloves
  • 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of flour
  • 1 whisked egg
  • 190 ml (3/4 cup) of milk
  • 225 gr (1/2 pound) of grated medium Cheddar cheese
  • 225 gr (1/2 pound) of grated Mozzarella cheese
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper up to taste
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of turmeric
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of Italian or regular breadcrumbs

Preparation

  • Preheat oven at 350 °F (180 °C).
  • Cook macaronis with package instrcutions. Set aside 125 ml (1/2 cup) of cooking water.
  • In a large casserole, melt butter into oil, add minced leeks and garlic and brown for 1 minute. Add flour and mix well, cook 30 seconds. Add cooking water and mix well.
  • In a bowl, mix whisked egg with milk, add cheeses, season with salt, pepper and turmeric, mix well and add to the leeks mixture.
  • Add macaronis and mix well. Pour into 4 cocottes well buttered and spread with breadcrumbs. Oven bake for 20 minutes.
