Ingredients

  • 340 g (¾ pound) of pie dough
  • For the frangipane :
  • 500 ml (2 cups) of almond powder
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of sugar
  • 125 ml (½ cup) of melted butter
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of citrus liquor (like Grand Marnier)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 orange
  • 2 to 3 drops of vanilla extract
  • For garnishing :
  • 30 strawberries
  • 125 ml (½ cup) of gooseberries jelly

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix all almonds powder with sugar. Progressively add remaining ingredients for the frangipane. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven at 180 C (350 F).
  • Lower down the pie dough and set in a pie plate of 20 cm (8 inches). Pour the frangipane and spread the preparation. Oven bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool down.
  • Slice strawberries in halfs.
  • Once the dough cooled down, set half the strawberries over the dough.
  • Melt the gooseberries jelly by heating a few seconds in the micro-wave. With a pastry brush, brush jelly over strawberries.
