Meatloaf with leeks

  • 400 gr of extra lean chopped beef
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of nutritional yeast
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) of ketchup
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of Dijon's mustard
  • 1 egg
  • ½ package of 250 gr (1 1/2 cup) of Les Cultures de chez nous sliced leeks
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of brown sugar

  • Preheat oven at 350ºF.
  • In a large bowl, mix all ingredients, except brown sugar. Pour mixture in a bread mold covered with parchment paper. Spread with brown sugar.
  • Oven bake 50 minutes.

Nutritional note :

Nutritional yeast is a food in itself. Often used in vegetarian diets, it provides an important amount of vitamin B12 and thiamine.  It s taste is reminiscent  of cheese and nuts. It can be used as a substitute for bread crumbs, for cooking certain dishes au gratin, or on pizzas and popcorn. Nutritional yeast is available in the natural or biological products sections of most grocery stores.
